On February 2 2026, the United Nations Global Compact Network Egypt (UNGCNE) marked the 25th Anniversary of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) by hosting an exclusive breakfast at The Nile Ritz-Carlton, Cairo. This milestone reflects a quarter-century of collective commitment to advancing sustainable development, promoting responsible business practices, and driving meaningful impact across sectors.

A central highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of UNGCNE’s new strategy, introduced and highlighted by UNGCNE’s newly elected Board of Directors, with three focus areas: Equip & Mobilize, Drive Transformative Sustainability Impact, and Advance the Business Case. This strategy reinforces UNGCNE’s role as a national platform that supports companies in translating commitment into measurable outcomes.

The ceremony convened influential keynote speakers, including H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, United Nations Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, who reflected on the importance of investable pathways and mobilizing finance to accelerate delivery under real constraints. The Ceremony was also honored by the presence of Ms. Elena Panova, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt, whose remarks underscored the power of partnership and coordinated action to deliver impact at scale.

A defining moment of the ceremony was the recognition of Egypt’s Early Adopters of the Ten Principles of UNGC. Sekem Group, Raya Holding, Arab African International Bank, e& Egypt, and the Egyptian Transport & Commercial Services Co. S.A.E. (EGYTRANS) are the visionary organizations that have helped lay the foundation for responsible business practices in Egypt. These companies’ early commitment to embedding the Ten Principles helped shape a culture of integrity and responsible growth, paving the way for today’s expanding community.

The ceremony served as a reaffirmation of a shared commitment to advancing the UNGC’s Ten Principles across human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption—not only as a moment of reflection, but as a call to elevate ambition and accelerate implementation. Together with Egypt’s business community and partners, UNGCNE remains committed to strengthening responsible business practices that create long-term value for people, planet, and prosperity.
