for a Sustainable Future

Overview

The Gen-Green Initiative is a flagship youth-focused program launched by the UN Global Compact Network Egypt (UNGCNE). It is dedicated to equipping the next generation of changemakers with the knowledge, tools, and voice to take meaningful action toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient future. Developed in collaboration with Egyptian Universities, the initiative reflects UNGCNE’s commitment to fostering youth engagement as a core pillar of national and global sustainable development efforts.

Program Highlights

The first round of Gen-Green was launched at UFE’s dynamic campus, bringing together students from
diverse backgrounds for an immersive learning experience centered on sustainability. The event featured:

1. Interactive sessions and discussions exploring climate action, sustainable consumption, and the role of youth in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

2. Student-led interviews and practical activities to promote critical thinking and real-world application of sustainability principles.

3. Media production of short, engaging video interviews shared across digital platforms to amplify student voices and inspire wider community involvement.

Gen Green Insights

Youth at the Heart of Change:
Gen-Green is designed to nurture leadership, creativity, and advocacy among young people, providing them with a platform to shape the sustainability dialogue from the ground up. The initiative empowers students to reflect on environmental and social challenges and become active participants in creating impactful, locally rooted solutions.
A Scalable Model for National Reach:
By launching Gen-Green as a pilot program at UFE, UNGCNE established a replicable framework that can be expanded to universities and educational institutions across Egypt. This strategic collaboration leveraged UFE’s innovative learning environment and engaged student community to lay the groundwork for a broader youth movement committed to sustainability.
