On October 14th, 2023, the UN Global Compact Network Egypt launched Sustain360, its flagship sustainability capacity-building program, at Holiday Inn Cairo Citystars. Over four days, professionals from diverse sectors engaged in hands-on learning covering ESG integration, the UN Global Compact Ten Principles, the SDGs, climate action, and decarbonization strategies. Led by field experts, the program featured interactive tools like Sustainopoly, a gamified simulation that reinforced sustainability thinking. Participants developed tailored action plans for their organizations and received completion certificates. Sustain360 reflects UNGCNE’s commitment to equipping a new generation of sustainability leaders with the knowledge, tools, and networks to drive lasting impact.
In April 2024, the UN Global Compact Network Egypt hosted the first Sustain360 capacity-building round of the year, welcoming 15 participants from member companies for a certified four-day training on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Conducted in collaboration with EPD Egypt, the program focused on LCA as a vital tool for evaluating the environmental impacts of products across their entire lifecycle. Led by Dr. Nasser Ayoub, Managing Director of EPD Egypt, the sessions offered in-depth guidance on minimizing environmental footprints from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal. Through applied exercises and expert instruction, participants gained actionable insights to optimize resource use and enhance sustainability performance. This round further reflects UNGCNE’s commitment to advancing practical, science-based approaches that support responsible business and sustainable development across Egypt’s private sector.
From July 21st to 23rd, 2024, the UN Global Compact Network Egypt held the second round of its Sustain360 capacity-building program for the year. The three-day training brought together 15 participants from member companies, continuing the Network’s efforts to strengthen sustainability knowledge and practice across the business sector. Through expert-led sessions and interactive discussions, the program provided participants with practical tools and frameworks to embed responsible business strategies within their organizations. This round further reinforces UNGCNE’s commitment to developing informed sustainability leaders equipped to drive positive impact in their industries.
In December 2024, the UN Global Compact Network Egypt, in collaboration with EPD Egypt, hosted the third round of the Sustain360 Organizational Carbon Footprint Certified Training Programme. Designed exclusively for UNGCNE participants, the three-day training equipped companies with practical tools to measure and manage Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Led by Dr. Nasser Ayoub, Managing Director of EPD Egypt, the sessions covered carbon footprint calculation, emissions source identification, and key standards such as the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064. Participants explored actionable reduction strategies and developed tailored carbon roadmaps to align with global climate goals. This training supports UNGCNE’s mission to empower businesses with the knowledge and skills to reduce environmental impact and contribute to a low-carbon, sustainable future.
In May 2025, the UN Global Compact Network Egypt held the Sustain 360 Workshop – Beginner Round during the 15th Egypt CSR and Sustainability Forum, aiming to introduce young professionals to the fundamentals of sustainability and responsible business. Led by Country Director Mrs. Walaa El-Husseiny and Board Member Mrs. Ghada Hammouda, the workshop offered practical insights on integrating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the SDGs into corporate strategies. Through interactive sessions, participants explored key topics such as environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and ethical governance. This initiative reflects the Network’s ongoing commitment to building capacity, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and empowering emerging sustainability leaders in Egypt.
From June 1st to 3rd, 2025, the UN Global Compact Network Egypt launched its first Sustain360 training round of the year with a three-day workshop on Environmental Management and Policies. Led by Dr. Yasser Askar, CEO of MRY Investment Company, and Dr. Mohamed Farouk, Lead Environmental Consultant, the program offered practical guidance on environmental compliance, waste management, and pollution control. Participants explored key regulations, including Egypt’s Environmental Law No. 4 of 1994, and engaged in sessions on circular economy, cleaner production, and sustainable resource use. This training reflects UNGCNE’s ongoing efforts to equip companies with the tools and knowledge needed to meet environmental challenges and advance responsible practices across industries.
